Creating your adventure - Overview

Hello and welcome to this guide on how to create and run your first adventure on Roll20 completely for free!

This guide is primarily intended for prospective Game Masters (GMs) and will be walking through all the steps you'll need to take to create your first one shot adventure.

A one shot is a short adventure that typically takes one gaming session, or around 3-4 hours of play. The preparation to build this particular adventure from scratch is roughly 1-2 hours depending on your familiarity with Roll20.

In this guide, we will be covering a number of completely free tools and setting up this adventure to use the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5E) ruleset. However, many of these methods can be used to set up an adventure for any number of other systems you may be interested in.

By the end of this guide we will have a one shot adventure containings about 5-6 encounters for 3rd level characters that should take roughly 3-4 hours to complete.
