Character Info
The Character Info Section contains the following information and fields. You can directly alter most of these by clicking the cogwheel in the upper right of the section to access the modal.
- Name & Pronouns – The character’s chosen name, used for roleplaying and identification in the game as well as their preferred pronouns.
- Species – The character’s species (formerly known as "race"), which determines base traits such as ability score increases, movement speed, and special abilities. Examples include Elf, Dwarf, Dragonborn, and Tiefling.
- Class & Level – The character’s class, which defines their abilities, proficiencies, and role in the party (e.g., Fighter, Wizard, Cleric). Level determines the character’s overall power and access to new features, spells, and abilities.
- Background – The character’s backstory choice, which provides starting skill proficiencies, tool proficiencies, and special features. Examples include Acolyte, Criminal, and Sage. Backgrounds may also contribute to roleplaying and personal story elements.
- Proficiency Bonus – A universal modifier that scales with level and applies to skills, saving throws, attacks, and other proficiency-based rolls. Increases at certain levels (e.g., +2 at level 1, +3 at level 5).
- Experience Points (XP) – The numerical representation of progress toward leveling up. Earned through combat, roleplaying, and completing objectives. Alternatively, some DMs use the milestone leveling system instead of XP tracking.
- Inspiration – A mechanic that allows a player to gain advantage on a d20 roll. Typically awarded for good roleplaying, creative problem-solving, or embodying character traits. A character can only have one point of inspiration at a time.
- Level Up – The process of increasing the character’s level, unlocking new abilities, spells, and improvements. Level-ups typically occur after reaching a set XP threshold or at the DM’s.
Hit Points
Maximum Hit Points
The highest number of hit points a character can have at full health. This is determined by their class hit die, Constitution modifier, and level.
You cannot alter the 'Max' Hit Point total by directly clicking into it. To alter the total - by either directly overriding it or adding a bonus - click the cogwheel in the upper right of the Hit Points section to open the settings modal, and enter them directly into the fields 'Other Max HP Bonus' or 'Override Max HP' under the Manage HP tab.
Current Hit Points
The character's current health total, which fluctuates as they take damage or receive healing.
You can alter Current Hit Points directly by clicking into the field above the 'Current' label and entering a new total. Setting a total above the 'Max' amount will result in it defaulting to the max, and setting it to 0 or a negative number will transform the Hit Points section into its 'Death Saves' state.
Temporary Hit Points
Bonus hit points granted by spells, abilities, or effects (e.g., Heroism, Inspiring Leader feat). These absorb damage before regular hit points but do not stack—only the highest value applies.
You can enter temporary hit points directly into the field above the 'Temp' label. If you apply damage via the red heart button, the damage will be subtracted first from the total in the Temp field before subtracting from Current Hit Points.
Hit Dice
Dice used to restore hit points during a short rest. The number of hit dice equals the character's level, and the die type depends on their class (e.g., d8 for Rogues, d12 for Barbarians). Characters regain hit dice after a long rest, up to half their total.
Short and Long Rest
Clicking the Short or Long Rest buttons will open the Short/Long Rest modal. In this modal, the effects of a Short or Long Rest can be applied to the character.
- Short Rest – A period of at least 1 hour where a character can spend hit dice to regain HP and use certain class abilities.
- Long Rest – A full 8-hour rest that restores all HP, recharges hit dice (up to half of the character's total), and refreshes class features and spell slots.
Healing and Damage
You can apply healing or damage by entering a number into the text field between the red and green heart buttons. Upon pressing the red heart, that number will be subtracted from the Current Hit Points (or from 'Temp' Hit Points first, if the number above Temp is greater than 0). Upon pressing the green heart, it will be added to the 'Current' hit points.
A character cannot be healed above the Maximum Hit Point total. If a number is subtracted from the Current Hit Points such that it renders it at or below 0, the Hit Points screen will switch to the Hit Points (Death Saves) state.
Death Saves
The Death Saves state consists of 6 clickable checkboxes, with 3 beside Successes and 3 beside Failures. Clicking the 'Roll' button will roll a death save to chat and automatically check the appropriate box.
Clicking the Stabilize button will return you to the normal Hit Points state at any time.
Once 3 boxes are checked in either the Successes or Failure row, the 'Roll' and 'Stabilize' buttons will transform into the 'Restore Full HP' and 'Restore 1 HP' buttons. Clicking either will return you to the normal Hit Points state, with either 1 or full Current Hit Points. Alternatively, unchecking 1 of the 3 consecutively checked boxes will transform the buttons back to 'Roll' and 'Stabilize'.
Inside the Hit Points settings modal, accessed by pressing the cog wheel in the upper right corner of the Hit Points section, you can modify Death Saves - either by adding a direct bonus, altering the success threshold from a default of 10, or adding a proficiency or expertise bonus to Death Saves. These options can be found under the 'Death Saving Throws' tab of the modal.
Ability Scores and Saving Throws
You can manage Ability Scores and Saving Throws in the 'Ability Scores' section directly under the Character Info and Hit Points sections.
Clicking the light grey square button above any of the 'Ability' labels will roll a check of the corresponding Ability in that column.
Clicking the dark grey square button above the 'Save' labels will roll a check of the corresponding Ability in that column. If this button is colored red, it indicates proficiency in that Saving Throw type.
Clicking the cogwheel in the upper right corner of the Ability Scores section will open the Ability Scores settings modal, with the 'Ability Scores' and 'Saving Throws' tabs.
AC/Speed
The AC/Speed section contains two stats with two dropdown sections - Armor Class and Speed.
The Armor Class dropdown contains the breakdown of your AC score into base (10+currently equipped armor), Dex (your dex modifier) and Shield (the bonus from any shield you are using).
The Speed dropdown contains alternate speeds to your walking speed, with the defaults being fly, swim and climb.
You cannot edit these directly, but can edit them manually by opening the settings modal by clicking the cogwheel in the upper right of the section. The settings modal contains the tabs 'Armor Class' and 'Speed'.
In the Armor Class tab, you can manually override any individual component of the AC score or the score entirely. You can also add an additional ability score modifier to AC.
In the Speed tab, you can manually override any of the available speed types.
Skills
The Skills section contains all the available skills in D&D 2025, with their associated ability and current modifier displayed next to their name. To the right of the row with their name, each skill has a circle denoting the level of proficiency.
Clicking a Skill will roll a check of the appropriate Skill (the one you clicked) to chat.
Clicking the proficiency circle will open a dropdown where you can manually select the level of proficiency.
Clicking the cogwheel in the upper right corner of the section will open the Skill settings modal. In the settings modal, you can modify each default Skill, remove them, or add new custom Skills.
Defenses
The Defenses section lists all the current resistances, immunities and vulnerabilities the character has. You cannot edit this directly in the sheet, only in the settings modal.
To edit the Defense section, click the cogwheel in the upper right of the section to open the Defense settings modal. In the modal, you can manually add resistances, immunities and vulnerabilities.
Conditions
The Conditions section lists all the current Conditions affecting the character, including Exhaustion. You cannot edit the Conditions section directly in the sheet. Instead, edit it by opening the settings modal by clicking the cogwheel in the upper right of the Conditions section.
In the Conditions settings modal, all default Conditions are listed with a toggle on/off switch and expand/collapse toggle, with an Exhaustion tracker at the bottom of the modal.
Clicking the on/off toggle will turn the Condition on and off. Clicking any individual Condition's expand toggle will open a description of the condition and its effect on the character. If toggling the Condition on will automatically affect certain modifiers or rolls, those changes will be listed under the description of the Condition.
Clicking the Exhaustion tracker at the bottom will increment Exhaustion up and down depending on which Exhaustion level you click. Each Exhaustion level will open a description of the mechanical modifiers of that Exhaustion level under the Exhaustion tracker.
In the Conditions settings modal, you can also add new Conditions.
Senses
The Senses section lists the passive save scores for Perception, Investigation and Insight by default under the 'Passive' column.
Below this, it lists alternative senses the character may possess under 'Other Senses', including (but not limited to) darkvision, tremorsense, truesight and so on, along with a distance in feet that these other senses are effective for.
You cannot edit the Senses section directly, but can alter it by opening the Senses settings modal. You can open Senses settings by clicking the cogwheel in the upper right corner of the Senses section. In the settings modal, you can directly override the passive scores of Investigation, Perception and Insight, and the effective foot distance for other senses.
Sheet Tabs
Combat
The Combat tab is the leftmost of the tabs in the Tab section. It contains the Attack, Mastery, Effect and Action subsections, in descending order.
In the Attack subsection, you can find available prefabricated Attack actions. These Attacks will populate automatically when you equip a weapon, but you can construct additional Attack actions by clicking the add button in the upper right of the tab, symbolized by a red plus symbol.
Attack options, from left to right, list their name, range, hit/DC and damage. Clicking the row as a whole or the light grey button under the hit/DC column will roll the attack as constructed. Clicking the light grey button under the damage column will roll the damage roll for that attack as listed. Clicking the chatbox button will send a description of the weapon's characteristics to chat. Finally, clicking the 'I' button at the end of the row will open the editing modal for that Attack action, allowing you to modify its properties directly.
In the Mastery subsection, Masteries will populate automatically when you equip a weapon with a Mastery. Masteries list, from left to right, their names, properties and sources. Under the Mastery column, each Mastery has a toggle switch - clicking will toggle the Mastery on and off. When toggled on, attacks made with that Weapon will include a button in the roll interface sent to chat which you can click to show the description of the Mastery.
Clicking the chat bubble button at the right of the Mastery row for each Mastery will send that same description of the Mastery to chat without the need to roll a weapon. Clicking the 'I' button at the end of the Mastery row will open the editing modal for that Mastery, allowing you to modify its properties directly.
In the Effect subsection, Effects that the character can apply will be listed. These Effects list, from left to right, their name, modification, and affect - that is, what the Effect is applied to.
Clicking the toggle button at the left side of an Effect's row will toggle that Effect on and off. When toggled on, it will apply to the roll type listed under 'affect'.
Clicking the chat bubble button at the right of the Effect row will send a description of the Effect to chat. Clicking the 'I' button will open the editing modal for that Effect, allowing you to edit its properties directly.
In the Action subsection, Actions (other than Attack actions, which are listed in the Attack subsection) are categorized first by type (Action, Bonus Action, Reaction, Free Action) in horizontal order.
Actions list their name and details from left to right. Clicking the chat bubble button at the right of an Action's row will send a description of that Action to chat. Clicking the 'I' button will open the Action editing modal, allowing you to edit that Action directly.
Spells
In the Spells tab, all of a character's spells are listed, and you can sort or search through them using several different methods found at the top of the tab - a search bar where you can type spell names directly, a dropdown bar option for sorting by level, and a button filled with white bars which allows you to toggle a list view, spell slot view or the option to sort by ascending or descending order.
You can manage the Spells tab as a whole by clicking the 'Manage' button at the top right of the Spells tab, which will open the Spells Tab settings modal.
At the top of the Spells tab, above the search options, the character's Spell Save DC, primary spellcasting Attribute, and spell attack bonus are listed from left to right.
Spells are sorted by default into sections based on spell level, from 1st to 9th, denoted by a banner at the top left of that section naming the spell level in question. At the right of that banner, a number of empty red check-boxes will appear, which you can toggle by clicking them. The number of checkable red boxes represents the number of spell slots of that level a character possesses.
Clicking a spell's row or the 'I' button at the right side of the spell row will open the Cast modal, which will allow you to select options (such as the spell slot level you are casting at) before you send the spell to chat. Clicking the chat bubble button will send the spell's description to chat.
Inventory
In the Inventory tab, items are divided into three subsections - Equipment, Attunement and Other Possessions. At the top of the Inventory tab, you can find a character's money and current carried weight, along with what level of encumbrance they are experiencing from that weight. You can open the Items settings modal by clicking the cogwheel at the upper right of the section, and add more items to the Inventory by clicking the red plus button.
In the Equipment section, you can find all items that a character equips to use (most commonly armor and weapons). Clicking the toggle at the left side of an Equipment row will toggle that item equipped or unequipped, including mechanical effects. Clicking the 'I' button at the right side will open the Equipment editing modal, allowing you to directly edit that piece of equipment and its properties.
In the Attunement section, items that are attuneable will appear along with a toggle button. Clicking the toggle button will toggle that item as 'attuned', causing it to take up an attunement slot. The character's attunement slots - and which items are occupying them - will appear in this section.
In the Other Possessions section, items that do not fall into the first two categories will appear along with basic information about them. You cannot edit them directly, but can edit them by clicking the 'I' button at the right of their row and opening the respective item's editing modal.
Features & Traits
In the Features and Traits tab, you can find a character's features and traits along with their descriptions and any resource trackers, divided by their type and source. Each feature/trait lists their name along with their origin on the left of their row, their description in the middle, and offers a chat bubble button and 'I' button to allow sharing of their description to chat and editing of their properties via modal. You can add features and traits to the tab by clicking the red plus button in the upper right.
You can limit the list of Features and Traits to those of a specific origin or type by clicking the dropdown at the upper left of the section and selecting an option.
Notes
In the Notes tab, you can create notes by clicking the red plus button, which opens the Notes editing modal. You can manage the Notes tab as a whole by clicking the cogwheel in the upper right corner of the tab, which opens the Notes settings modal.
About
In the About tab, a character's personal information is divided into the Background, Appearance and Characteristics sections. You can send these sections to chat by clicking the chat bubble button at the right side of their row, or directly edit them by clicking the 'I' button.
To add more information to the About tab, you can click the red plus button at the upper right corner of the About tab to open a Background, Characteristics or Appearance modal.
