We have Updated Our Look!
Some of the videos on this page feature the Legacy Toolbar. Check out our Toolbar Overview for up to date information!
The Select and Pan tool allows you to toggle between manipulating objects on the tabletop and panning around the screen.
Select Mode
In select mode, you can click to select an object (such as a token or a map) on the tabletop. Note that you will only be able to select objects on the current layer (unless objects are layerless or modifier keys are utilized). You can also resize it or move it around. For more information, see the Manipulating Graphics help page.
Select multiple objects (tokens, images, drawings, text, cards, Map Pins, Doors, and Windows) by dragging your cursor to create a selection box around them. Alternatively, hold down modifier keys while clicking objects (or dragging to select) to refine your selection.
To mult-select, objects need to be on the same layer, except:
- Doors/Windows = Lighting Layer
- Map Pins = Layerless
| Modifier Key | Description |
| Ctrl/Cmd | Select only tokens, cards, or images on the current layer |
| Alt/Option | Select only text and drawings on the current layer |
| Shift | Select only Map Pins, Doors, or Windows - regardless of layer |
| Ctrl/Cmd + A | Select all objects on the current layer, excluding any Map Pins, Doors, or Windows |
| Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + A | Select all objects on the current layer, plus any Map Pins, Doors, or Windows on other layers |
See Hotkeys article for more information on VTT Keyboard Shortcuts.
Pan Mode
Pan mode enables you to click and drag anywhere on the tabletop to quickly move about the page. You can also right-click and drag at any time (even if Pan mode is not active) to use the pan tool.
