Create Your Own NPC
This sheet is used by adventure NPCs as well as when making your own.
-
Basic Information
- This lists the NPC name, their challenge level, and size (see "Size and Space" for more). Creatures have different challenge levels to help you build combat encounters (see “Encounter Building” for more information).
-
Health Level and Shield Charges
- This is to track the health level (current and max) and shield levels.
-
Conditions
- These hearts signify conditions on the character. The + sign hearts are positive conditions, and the - sign hearts are negative. The smaller hearts can be toggled for minor conditions on individual skills, the medium ones mark moderate conditions that affect an entire skill category, and the large hearts are for significant conditions which affect the character as a whole.
-
Movement Speed
- Shows how many squares the NPC is able to move on a turn. The default is that every square is 5 feet.
-
Skills
- There are three categories of skill types: Mental, Physical, and Social. Each category has a list of skills that will have their own designated die to roll. Skills determine which actions the NPC can make and how skilled they are at performing them.
-
Attacks, Special Abilities, and Equipment
- These buttons will display the associated information for each category. The plus sign (+) and pencil icon buttons allow you to edit, delete, or reorder entries. The Roll Special Ability button will put the Special Ability description into chat.

Attacks Outside of Combat
Some NPCs have attacks that can be used outside of combat.
In general, these attacks do not deal damage, but have some sort of effect on a hit. If the NPC uses an attack like this outside of combat and targets one or more player characters, the player characters still get a chance to counter the attack. Use the NPC’s Mental, Physical, or Social score to set the complexity of the skill roll the player character makes. You pick which score you think is right based on the attack.
- Example:
- The Overguild boss’s Tell the Truth attack is all about social interaction and force of personality, so the GM may rule that the complexity of skill rolls made to avoid this particular attack is based on the Overguild boss’s Social score of 4. A formidable plasma ghost’s command attack is all about mental control, so, outside of combat, the complexity of skill rolls made to avoid this particular attack is based on the ghost’s Mental score of 5.
