Call of Cthulhu 7E Charactermancer

Ready to easily add and create characters for your Call of Cthulhu game? With the new Call of Cthulhu 7e Charactermancer, you can do just that! Get started by using the Charactermancer with a new character, or an existing character in your Call of Cthulhu campaign.

On a New Character

When you create or open a new character for the first time, click the Character Sheet tab.

As the sheet opens you will be given the option of choosing between using the Charactermancer, creating a new NPC, or editing the sheet directly.

On an Existing Character

From the Character Sheet tab, open the settings panel. At the top of the right-most column, you will find a button that reads 'Start the Charactermancer'. Clicking this will launch the Charactermancer.

How to Use It

The Charactermancer is organized into slides that will walk you, step-by-step, through the process of creating a character. However, you can also skip around the process by using the buttons at the top of the window.

At the bottom of the window are a number of buttons:

The Back button takes you to the previous step in the character creation process, as laid out in the top navigation bar. This is not necessarily the last slide that you viewed.

The Next button takes you to the next step in the character creation process, as laid out in the top navigation bar.

The Cancel button exits the Charactermancer.

On the final slide, marked 'End', there is an additional button Finish. Clicking this button will complete the Charactermancer and build your character.

The Slides

Slide Content
Intro

This slide introduces you to the Charactermancer.

Stats

This slide allows you to generate your character's Characteristics in one of three ways: Standard, Point Buy, and Quick Fire.

It is essential to complete this step before moving to future stages.

Age

This slide allows you to enter your character's age, and make modifications to your characteristics on the basis of it.

It is essential to complete this step before moving on to future stages.

Occupation

This slide allows you to choose your occupation, and then your occupation skill point calculation and any occupation skills. It will populate from sources that you own (i.e. The Keeper's Rulebook or Harlem Unbound), but by selecting the 'custom' occupation, you will be able to enter your own data.

Be sure to select at least your occupation skill point calculation before moving on.

Skills This slide allows you to assign occupation and personal skill points to a list of skills. You can add additional skills to any grouped category, by clicking the 'Add Skill' button beneath them. You can delete skills added in this way by clicking the red 'trash bin' button to their right.

Unspent skill points will not be saved when the Charactermancer is finished, so be sure to use them all now!

Backstory This slide allows you to enter elements of your character's backstory. If you own a relevant sourcebook (i.e. The Keeper's Rulebook or Harlem Unbound), you will have the option here to roll for prompts, these are not mandatory, but will help give you some inspiration for fleshing out your character.
End This slide allows you to review the data entered in the previous slides. It will tell you if you've missed anything and provide you with links to return to the relevant slides.

Once you're happy with your character, you can click the 'Finish' Button at the bottom of the screen, this will build your character from the data you have provided, and return you to a filled out character sheet.
