Export Settings
Type
Select the file format for your export. The following formats are available:
- PNG (all users)
- WebP (all users)
- JPG (all users)
- PDF (Pro Feature)
Filename
Enter a name for the exported file. The default filename is "map".
Pixels (Px) per cell
Sets the resolution of the exported image by defining how many pixels wide each grid cell will be. The default value is 70 px per cell, which is compatible with virtual tabletop platforms such as Roll20.
The exported image dimensions are displayed below this setting, showing both the cell count and pixel dimensions of the export.
High-resolution (Pro Feature)
Standard exports are processed by your browser, which may have difficulty with very large images. If you see a warning that the exported image may be too large for your browser to handle, enable High-resolution export. This sends the export to Dungeon Scrawl's servers for processing instead.
High-resolution export also allows Pro subscribers to export at greater than 100 px per cell, which is useful for creating high-quality prints.
Note: High-resolution export requires an internet connection if over 5000px tall or wide.
Export Area
When the Export panel is open, a blue overlay appears on the canvas showing the area that will be exported. By default, the export area frames your entire map.
To adjust the export area:
- Drag the overlay to reposition it.
- Drag the corner handles to resize it.
To reset the export area to its default position, click the Reset export area button that appears below the canvas.
PDF Export (Pro Feature)
PDF export allows you to print your map across multiple pages with real-world measurements and printer margins handled automatically.
- PDF export settings include:
- Paper size: sets the paper size for each page.
- Margin: sets the margin around the printable area. Use the minimum margin supported by your printer.
- Printing resolution: sets the number of pixels per inch in the output file.
- Cell size: sets the real-world width of each grid cell in the printed output.

Shareable Link (Pro Feature)

- A copy will be saved in their library if they are a Pro Subscriber
- A copy will open in Dungeon Scrawl to be edited, saved, and exported if they are a free user
- They will not be able to edit your original map.
