  • Resolved an issue preventing barriers and their lighting from being updated when pages were switched and returned to

  • Resolved a regression in Nightvision for GMs caused by refactoring of rendering code.

  • Removed a bug that allowed some players to resize their own tokens independent of the GM

  • Removed the ability for free users to restrict movement on maps where they could not access the Dynamic Lighting lines in the first place.

  • A fix for an issue where some users can rejoin a game by the game details link if they previously were in the game and left manually.

  • Performance optimization for dragging tokens with UDL enabled

    • Sorting spells by uses now works properly even if the uses and max uses have never been manually set, without closing and re-opening the sheet.

    • Held and Stowed inventory items' subheaders display correctly in chat when "rolled".

    • Light items among the different inventory subsections are now correctly tallied.

    • Equipping weapons now sets proficiency based on a character's set weapon proficiencies, with the Weapon Name as well as Weapon Category and Weapon Group. Several names can be used for one proficiency entry with the same rank, separated by commas.

December 22, 2020 Hotfix

Updated Dynamic Lighting

  • A hotfix to prevent new unwanted permanent black areas occurring on pages after an update on December 22nd - has gone out.
  • This will not affect games currently experiencing this issue. Please use Reset Permanent Darkness from the tools in the top left of the game area to clear this problem from your existing games.
  • If you are still seeing this issue after using the tool, please submit a request to our help desk!

  • Great Weapon Master, Rage, and Sharpshooter no longer do double damage on critical hits.
  • NPCs and monsters from the compendium should have their vision and night vision set for both Legacy Dynamic Lighting and Updated Dynamic Lighting.
  • Spell cards are now output to the chat when casting attack spells as well as non-attack spells.

Additionally, we pushed code this week to clean up and maintain the code in our ongoing project to improve overall code health. We’re also hunting down issues with Updated Dynamic Lighting and we’ve done significant work on several of the rendering functions in tracking down the problems.

Updated Dynamic Lighting

  • The Polygon Reveal tool is now selectable while using Updated Dynamic Lighting and will function for both hiding AND revealing.
  • There is now an option to toggle the sharpen effect for Night Vision
  • We have added a Permanent Darkness option for Updated Dynamic Lighting
    • This provides the ability to make an area of darkness that will not be revealed by player vision or light
  • GM's can now see all light sources on the screen without needing to have a token with vision on the board. Using CTRL-L still allows you to see a view from that token's perspective
    • There is a visual difference for lights that players can see and those that they can’t

This week we pushed code with the following changes:

  • There’s been a new Mod (API) server update, with more detailed stack traces for Mod (API) authors and fixes issues with event delegation mismatches between the VTT and API that were causing unexpected errors and crashes.
  • We’ve updated the Custom Sheet Sandbox to clear out console errors.
  • Tint color selection will now reflect transparency as default.
  • The "Upgrade your subscription" link in the compendium section of a game's Settings page has been updated.
  • The Deactivate button for Marketplace Creators works properly now.
  • A character count has been added to Marketplace Review alerts, for less confusion for Marketplace creators.
  • Roll20 site help links have been updated to reflect new Help Center documentation.

  •  We’ve added Mod (API) support for directional Vision and Light in Updated Dynamic Lighting!

  • Updated Dynamic Lighting now includes a light multiplier, in the new Advanced Settings dropdown, that serves as a more consistent indicator of an individual player’s Sight. If a single player has multiple tokens (such as familiars), their light multiplier value will default to the highest percentage among their tokens. Great news for Pathfinder players.

  • Toggling between pages with Updated and Legacy Dynamic Lighting keeps the Polygon Reveal Tool intact.
  • When applying default token settings, the Maps & Background and Tokens & Objects layers are selected by default.
  • A fix for the recent login/logout loop bug.
  • Fiasco has been officially added to Roll20’s compendium list!
  • In the VTT, monster variants that don't have statblocks will no longer appear in the sidebar search.
  • The Mothership compendium has made it to the front page!

  • Update Dynamic Lighting now features the rectangular Hide/Reveal Tool functionality, as featured in Legacy Advanced Fog of War. Legacy Dynamic Lighting will not be affected by this and the Polygon functionality is still in the works for UDL.
  • Users can now set the tint color they want on tokens with Nightvision and save by default.
  • Users can choose which layer of tokens you want to be affected by the Apply Default Settings option (Map, Object, or GM layers). By default, it selects map and token layers.

  • The collapsable zoom slider now remembers when you collapse the slider. It is remembered on a per-game basis and is browser-independent.

    • Fixed an issue where a token controlled by a player could reveal areas on the player's current page when moved on a different page.

    • When the page scale units are not in feet, the token's light and vision settings now show the distance in the new unit of measurement.

  • In Updated Dynamic Lighting, when players reveal areas (by moving a token, for example), it is updated for the GM in real-time and vice versa.
  • As a result, using CTRL-L with Updated Dynamic Lighting no longer shows everything that's been revealed by anyone since the GM logged in.
  • Using Clear Fog twice stopped working.
  • The Default Token Settings for Updated Dynamic Lighting were not being applied correctly.

April 17, 2020 Hotfix

  • Fixed an issue where the default page settings for Updated Dynamic Lighting were not being applied to new pages.
  • Fixed an issue on the token settings where the units of measurement did not match the units on the page settings.
  • Your My Account page now shows any account credit you may have, even if the amount is $0.00
  • The token marker color dots now function when there are no token marker sets assigned to a game.
  • D&D 5e by Roll20 Bug fix: Non-numerals (such as commas and slashes) are accepted in the Experience field.

April 15, 2020 Hotfix

  • Disabling Updated Dynamic Lighting without enabling Legacy Dynamic Lighting no longer leaves the lighting mask in place
  • Numerous updates to official character sheets, including major updates to the D&D 5e by Roll20 sheet.
  • Fixed an issue with images in the 5e sheet, chat archives, and custom sheet preview causing logouts.

Bug fixes:

  • Changing character sheets or sharing compendiums was not possible if your account language was certain non-English languages, notably Italian.
  • Kickstarter-exclusive content was no longer available in users' libraries. This content is now available, but now appears under Marketplace Purchases.
  • Updated Dynamic Lighting resulting in unresponsive pages when the page selector was still open while scrolling around the page.
  • When fixing an issue where the Compendium Search would display many results for a single search term, we also redesigned it so the compendium Search now displays page sub-headings and page categories:
